Comment rester bien hydraté en période de canicule

July 2020

When it's nice and warm, it's important to hydrate enough to help the body regulate its internal temperature. And of course, hydration means hydrating liquids! While it can be tempting to enjoy a cold beer or cocktail to quench your thirst, make sure you drink enough hydrating beverages such as water, juice, milk, or unsweetened iced tea.

How much liquid should I drink in a day?

Fluid requirements are determined by an individual’s weight and age. On average, you should drink around 1.5-2 liters (6 to 8 cups) to meet your needs. On a hot day, such as during a heat wave, you’ll need even more!

Some people don’t feel thirst, especially as they get older. It is therefore important to drink regularly throughout the day and not only when thirsty.

Our tips for staying well hydrated

We love fruity waters, which make us want to drink more without consuming sugar or calories. Here are a few ideas for delicious blends of ingredients to add to a large pitcher of water and ice:

  • Mint and blackberries
  • Mint and lime
  • Basil and strawberries
  • Rosemary and sliced grapefruit
  • Lime, lemon and grapefruit slices
  • Raspberries and cucumber slices

Ever thought of making homemade popsicles with fruit purées or smoothies? With an Evive smoothie wheel, it’s easy peasy! Just melt the smoothie cubes in 250mL (1 cup) of water, mix well, pour into a popsicle mold, and put in the freezer for about 24 hours. You’ll get a healthy popsicle that can be enjoyed as a snack, dessert, or even with breakfast!
