FAQ – EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE COOKING

How to make puff pastry stars?

Roll out puff pastry, cut star shapes with a cookie cutter, brush with egg wash, and top with your choice of sweet toppings—like honey and sesame seeds. Bake until golden and crisp.

Why put egg on puff pastry?

Brushing puff pastry with an egg wash gives it a shiny, golden finish. It also helps toppings like sesame seeds stick better while baking.

Should I poke holes in puff pastry before baking?

Yes, if you want the pastry to stay flat. Docking (poking with a fork) prevents puffing. But for puffier stars, skip this step to let the layers rise.

What can I top puff pastry with for sweet snacks?

Try honey, cinnamon sugar, chopped nuts, or seeds like sesame or poppy. These toppings add flavour and texture while turning simple puff pastry into a sweet treat.

Can I use store-bought puff pastry for holiday cookies?

Absolutely! Store-bought puff pastry makes it easy to create festive shapes like stars. It bakes up beautifully, making it perfect for quick, elegant holiday treats.
